Nigeria 50,000-Layer Farm Solution Overview

This Nigeria layer farm solution is designed for a commercial egg production project with a target population of approximately 50,000 hens. The reference design uses one environmentally controlled poultry house measuring approximately 93 × 15 × 4 meters. Inside the house, 350 sets of four-tier H-type layer cages are arranged in five longitudinal rows.

Each cage set is designed to accommodate 144 birds. The planned capacity is therefore calculated as 144 birds × 70 cage sets per row × 5 rows = 50,400 birds. This additional capacity provides practical flexibility when placing and managing a commercial flock while maintaining an operating target of about 50,000 layers.

H-Type Layer Cage Layout

The five cage rows run along the 93-meter length of the poultry house. Access passages are reserved between the rows to support flock inspection, equipment maintenance, daily management and operation of the feeding, egg collection and manure removal systems.

The four-tier configuration increases bird capacity within one house while avoiding the need for multiple separate poultry buildings in the reference project.

The rear wall is planned with 22 exhaust fans, each approximately 1.4 × 1.4 meters. Fan stages should be adjusted according to house temperature, humidity, bird age and farm location.

Cooling pad air intake

The opposite wall can include six cooling pad sections of approximately 2.5 × 2.5 meters, providing about 37.5 square meters of reference end-wall cooling area.

Transitional ventilation

Approximately 82 side-wall windows, around 41 on each side, can support natural or transitional ventilation during cooler periods. Additional cooling pad area may be considered where required.

Supporting Infrastructure Requirements
