• Around 10,000 layers: An A-type layer cage system is often a practical option. It usually requires a lower initial investment, is easier for workers to inspect and manage, and can be configured with manual, semi-automatic or selected automatic equipment.
• Around 20,000 layers: Both A-type and H-type systems may be considered. A-type cages can remain suitable where the farm has sufficient house area and labor. If land or poultry house space is limited, or if the customer wants to reduce repetitive labor, an H-type configuration may also be evaluated.
• Around 30,000–50,000 layers or more: An H-type automatic layer cage system is generally more suitable for commercial-scale projects. Its multi-tier design can accommodate more birds within the same poultry house footprint and can integrate automatic feeding, drinking, manure removal and egg collection systems.

They are suitable for small to medium-sized layer farms and can still be upgraded with feeding, drinking or manure-removal equipment according to the project plan.

H-type layer cages are designed for higher-density commercial production. They can improve space utilization and reduce repetitive handling work through integrated automation. However, they require suitable poultry house design, reliable electricity, effective ventilation, regular maintenance and daily farm management. An automated H-type farm is not completely unattended.
